Ooloo was created by Ricky Thomas a gorgeous mother and new grandmother to Lulu. Ricky has an eye for fabrics and designs. Her sewing room is like a treasure chest. Fabrics that have been collected over the years adorn the walls whilst beads from vintage necklaces, brooches and ribbons hang from mannequins and in odd shaped glass jars. She is finally making her lifetime hobby and passion for sewing a reality through ooloo designs. Of course having Lulu in her world has certainly influenced her work.
Helping Ricky is her daughter Amanda who convinced her to start the label after Amanda's friends with bubs were constantly asking where she got Lulu's clothes. The answer was always “my mum made them."
Amanda helps in the design process and is also an early childhood teacher. Amanda is a great advocate for children learning through play and project based experiences. She loves the spirit and energy of childhood. Children in her class are encouraged to be just that - children! They play, make mud pies, build cubby houses, have tea parties, smell flowers and dig in the veggie patch! She has a dream of adding to ooloo by sharing early childhood experiences, songs and stories to enhance young children’s love of learning.
